Konza is named after the Konza Prairie of
Kansas. The Konza name is one spelling of the name for the Kansa/Konza
Indians that lived in the area now known as Kansas, Oklahoma, and Eastern
Missouri. The prairie reminds us of the ocean.....rolling hills like
large swells, and fresh winds blowing across the plains. It also reminds
us of home and family.
We lived in Hong Kong for 4 years during the 90's. We acquired
Chinese names personally, and wanted to give the boat a
Chinese
name to remind us of one of our favorite times and places.
We are finalizing this name presently, and a friend is creating the
calligraphy for the Chinese characters. We will be adding this name to
the boat as the artwork is completed, and will update this page to describe
the significance of the name.
